LOVE HAS A NAME

The question of pain, suffering, sickness, death and even disappointment has been a piece of argument against the God of Love. It has become like the hit argument for almost every agnostic and even the average believer who faces hardship.

Agnosticism, atheism, and doubt in The One upon whom all life anchor does not solve the problem or deal with the issues of pain and suffering in The world. They provide no relief or solution. They are only a distraction from the ideal.

It's Kim Walker-Smith who, in her song "Love Has A Name, boldly declared that:
"There's a space in every beating heart
There's a longing that reaches past the stars
There's an answer to every question mark
There's a name".
She went on to chant, in the same song, that "I can laugh in any storm, cause I got You Jesus..." and also added that "I know You're with me in every season, in every storm I know...". (1)

Then I ask: are storms fun places? Do life storms taste like cake? I'm sure you have the answer if you have ever gone through a difficult time in life. But why should Kim laugh through every storm and pain? How is she sure that He," The One who overcame", is with her? I'm sure she has a story to tell.

Shouldn't the God of Love shield His love from pain and suffering? Shouldn't it all be peace and joy in this broken world? Many may ask. But is this world not so broken by man himself that nothing within it has such eternal value than the one (the life) we look forward to? Here, I mean as long as you live in this fading world, the sight of pain and suffering is an ever visible picture. But this has no grip on the life of the Child of the Father, for in HIM we are more that conquerors.(2)

Therefore when you come through the "best moments of life", I mean that fragile moment of pain, suffering despair or confusion, Hold on. Do not let go for He made a solemn promise, that "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you".(3)

I have found that He (The Grand Blacksmith) forges His best in the fiery furnace.

In all, I find it interesting to note that all these questions (of hardship, pain, sickness or suffering) find their answers at the foot of the Cross. There, at Calvary the hard questions of life were answered. Have you been there? That in the person of Jesus, man finds that the mystery of pain is unraveled. Have you met Him?

So when you go through the storms of life always remember that Love Has a Name: JESUS. In Him we find grace and hope, through Him we find the tunnel that leads us to our breaking day. Where we become fully victorious in this Life and in the one to come. Victory has a name. Even Joy has a name: JESUS.
